Werewolf Detective
A strange crime thriller in a magical metropolis. Can you uncover the secret of the cursed items? And at what cost to yourself? 18+ only, please!
[ About ]
You are a private detective in the magical city of Breynia. Business has been slow lately, so when a young man with a strange haircut walks through the door and asks you to find his missing partner, how could you say no?
Of course, things go off the rails almost immediately, when your case crosses over with strange deliveries of cursed items that the Mages' Guild is investigating. What's the connection there? And where did all these weird moon cults come from?
Find out... today! In this game, featuring point-and-click adventure goodness.
[ Content Note ]
This game contains gently pulsating lights.
There are descriptions or depictions of lizard strippers, transformation, and mental as well as physical changes. That's really the big one here. There's no outright sexual content, but please, 18+ only. Thanks.
Also, there's organised crime. And implied mind and body control. And some rather sleazy characters. And information about moon-gods that has not been checked for accuracy.
[ Compatibility Notice ]
The game has been tested (and works) on Linux and Windows, both natively and in Firefox and Chrome. There's also a native Android build, and the web build also works in Android Chrome. Other platforms have not been tested.
The game does not currently work in Android Firefox, unless you change a debug setting, which you can't unless you're using a developer build. I recommend playing the native build.
[ Instructions ]
The whole game is controlled via mouse (or touchscreen). To walk, LEFT-CLICK anywhere (or touch there.) To interact with a person or object, LEFT-CLICK on them, then choose the appropriate action from the menu that pops up.
In dialogues, you can also press SPACE or RETURN to advance the line, and you can use the number keys on your keyboard to select a dialogue option. This is in addition to left-clicking.
To see all interactable objects on the current screen, click and hold the lightbulb icon. To see your notes, use the icon below that, which resembles a PDA. Do that often, especially if you're stuck.
To change settings, save or load your game, use the pause menu (on the left hand).

Install instructions
Download, unzip, run. Don't worry if it seems to hang for a while on first startup - it's doing a bunch of shader math, so it won't have to during actual gameplay.
The Mac build has not been tested, sorry. The Android build should be considered experimental.

For some reason when I try to change the main character's name, it defaults back to Ace when the game starts. What's the point of deciding his name if you can't keep it?
I loved this game! My spouse encouraged me to comment with possible errors that I noticed while playing, so here's this post, which wouldn't otherwise have existed.
“Anyways, I really did just wanted to check in.” This should be “want”, not “wanted”.
It’s possible to look at the entrance to Gail’s office, but there isn’t a description there.
My skill tree didn’t highlight the Edge skill after I attained it.
My spouse is also the one who told me to play this, after encouraging me to pivot one of my characters in a book I'm writing into being a private detective. She (the character) is considering a change of career while being located to potentially get involved in intrigues. The discussion of what careers she might seek was the topic. We ended up discussing what someone might do with their lives if they're torn between seeking safety and taking risks. Detective work came up in that context.
I may have to play this game a bunch to see if I can write my first detective character.
EDIT: Also, I found a typo on my second playthrough. "(...follwed by a sudden electric jolt that flows up your arm and over your face." The follwed is in the text!
And another one! Maybe this is character speech, but it surprised me out of Gail. "And if they is ignorant of Guild politics, and commits a faux pas..." Should Gail say "if they is"? I think this should be an "if they are".
And another one! There is a "they is" out of Charity as well. Unfortunately, when I went to edit the comment this time, it disrupted my exact location in the game, I think by triggering the page to reload... Oh, my autosave works. Good. "(Despite their protestation, they is clearly enjoying the attention - rolling on their back, legs twitching."
Ace's TF is the most fantastic transformation + hypnosis scene I've ever seen.
Those changes in game UI really strike my nerves.
question are the multiple endings
Not currently. I was going to have multiple endings, feeding into the skill system, but I ran out of time. Maybe in the future!
God tier work as usual KDRGN, always find myself coming back and checking the jams that come out and your games you have made, your quality just keeps getting better and better. The story the problem solving the idea of the game draws me in makes me feel like I'm my own character with my own set of skills and ideas trying to solve cases. Love how my run turned out and i Loved the characters.
Even though I found your stuff through your drone series this was an amazing change of pace. I wish there was more of a space i could express how much i enjoy everything you make like fanart etc. But either way ill always come back every odd week or month and check out what you make regardless of a jam coming out or not.
Among the most memorable strawberry entries, as usual!
I was a little surprised not to see another drone game, since I've come to enjoy them a lot, but this was really good. The disco elysium thing was great and is already urging me to go for a second playthrough, and it's been incredible watching you improve year by year: writing, art, programming... everything just keeps getting more polished than last time!
Big fan. Keep being awesome.
I haven't finished all the Strawberry Jam games yet, but I think this one might be my favourite out of the bunch so far. Just wanted to comment here too! Awesome game!!
i can't find any new conversation or interactable location after first interaction with charity. is there required perk to proceed?(street wise start, all possible interaction was done)
Hey there! The hint she gives you is supposed to point you back to Embers. There's a new option when you loiter at the counter, eavesdrop, and listen to the general conversations around the room (it requires the "Small-Time Crook" keyword, which Charity gives you.)
it seems that "samll-time crook" keyword dosen't work when i do in browser one, which was okay with download version.
may be it was only problem when i played on browser version or it may caused by 'wrong step order'? i don't have any idea why it happened.
for now, i was able to see ending and it was great.
Alright, that was fun,
Semi-vague spoilers bellow
I truly /loved/ the story,
the stat boost/level up Charity got was a nice touch,
And most of the story was adorable in general, I always love the party at the end of the game
I found a bug and I think it bricked my save file.
Warning spoilers ahead.
So after going to sleep and gaining my first skill point, if I go back to Ember's and eavesdrop backroom again, then the basement location disappears from my map and when I go back to my apartament the 'Purple Gal' event starts all over again and I get to sleep again gaining another skill point. Now, I had some fun and unlocked all skills ahead of time but now after continuing the story I have a skill point to use but there is no skill to be unlocked so I'm stuck and can't continue.
I'm playing the linux version v0.7
Also love the game!
Yep, that's a bug. Turns out the condition that's supposed to lock you out of that branch doesn't actually get checked. Whoops!
You could un-brick your save file by opening it in a text editor and setting one of your skills to false, that way you can get past the screen. (Or start a new one.) In the meantime I'm going to push a hotfix for the web version, since that's a game-breaking bug. Sorry and thanks for the report!
Enjoyed it so much! Fun and an interesting little story!
Thank you for the kind words!
Whenever you release something new I have to drop everything to go play it lol, this did not disappoint. I loved the ability point system (and the effect of the “secret perk” especially), it felt like the natural evolution from Unspecified Behavior. very cute & hot/10
Aw, thank you! I wanted to build a little on what Unspecified Behavior did mechanically, so I'm glad that worked out, haha.
Enjoyed this a lot! The writing and humour were great, and it was pretty straightforward understanding where I needed to go. I enjoyed the bits of extra flavour text you get after backtracking a bit. Would definitely play more if you ever continued it!
Thank you kindly! We'll see if I end up making more like this.
Where do i sleep when i get to small time crook section.
There's a bedroom back at your office, sorry if that wasn't clear.
i went there and it says i still have errands to run.
